When you create a new game, you can choose between Scenario, Workshop, or Custom Games. Scenarios are the recommended starting points for beginners, and for anyone who wants to discover what the game offers in addition to the pure sandbox experience.
Important: On consoles, only the following scenarios are official supported: First Jump, Learning to Survive, Never Surrender. The official Lost Colony scenario does not work on consoles. Third-party scenarios from the Steam Workshops are not supported either on consoles. As a workaround, console players install the scenario on a dedicated server (EOS) and connect to the hosted PC game.

Scenario Editor[]
PC players can use a tool called VST (VisualScripting.bat) to edit scenarios or turn a Custom Game into a scenario, and publish them on the Steam Workshop.
- In your Steam Library under Tools, search for “Space Engineers – Mod SDK”.
- Install the SDK tool if not yet done.
- Click Launch in Steam to open the SpaceEngineersModSDK folder in Windows Explorer.
<Your Steam Library>\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineersModSDK - Open the SpaceEngineersModSDK\Tools\VRageEditor\ folder, then run VisualScripting.bat.
- If this is your first time running VST, select the content folder of the game: Navigate to the Steam installation folder on your computer and select:
<Your Steam Library>\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\ - When opening VST you’ll be presented with the Start workspace, which shows options to start a New Scenario (based on a Custom Game) or load an existing scenario.
