Is there an end to Space Engineers? ›

This game is not story driven, so there is not a specific end game goal, but there are some goals that will make you spend good time like the steam achievements, try to get "scrap delivery", build a ship that can hold in a row 200 waves and destroy 1000 drones.

Description (No spoilers) The challenge is to defend a Beacon from the SPRT Space Pirates as long as possible. You have unlimited time to prepare your defences in any way you see fit. The game will display messages to rush you to meet the attackers at the marker, but they won't actively come for you.

There are NPC factions and Player factions. Once a faction is created in a world, it will not be dismissed until the last player or last NPC leaves. (Note that NPCs in the vanilla game don't appear as Engineers, there are only drones, ships, and stations.)

Default Pirate Encounters

Occasionally, the Engineer discovers a pirate base, which defends itself with drones from a distance when the player enters a certain range. Drones are their favorite method of attack against the Space Engineer.

There are three different types of AI blocks: Move, Task, and Combat. They can be recognized by their name and have a correlating icon in their preview image. These blocks work together to allow your grid to perform complex behaviors. Only one block of each type can be active at any time.

The Spawn menu is a creative tool that allows Admins to spawn in items and “cheat in” game objects for free. In Survival Mode, use the Admin Screen to give yourself Creative Tools. The Spawn menu can then be accessed by pressing (SHIFT+F10 key) while a game is running.

If a target is in locking range, you'll see one large dashed circle around the target grid—this circle is the target reticle. The target reticle has a maximum range of 2500 meters for tracking and locking. It automatically starts tracking the closest target within that range.

Planets, moons, and asteroids in game are completely immobile and never actually move along any orbits, no matter how much force or gravity is applied.

Personally, I consider the "end goal" to be obtaining the jump drive and exploring other planets. After that, it's kind of like beating the ender dragon in Minecraft. Yes, you've gotten the best etchnology, but there's no harm in continuing to explore and build.

By default, the max PCU is 100,000 on all platforms. In experimental mode it's 200,000 on consoles (Playstation 4 and Xbox) in Singleplayer, and it can be up to 500,000 on PC and PS5.

One thing's for sure: the Universe does not have an edge. There's no physical boundary – no wall, no border, no fence around the edges of the cosmos. This doesn't necessarily mean that the Universe is infinitely large though.
