Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review I expected something interesting and artistic. I got something that looks nice but is utterly predictable. Jun 23, 2021 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) [A]ll the dilemmas here - from bear attacks to food shortages - are entirely free of jeopardy and simply exist to provide our director-star with another chance to stage swoon-worthy photo ops by the wood-burner. Rated: 2/5 Jun 7, 2021 Full Review Simran Hans Observer (UK) Wright is sympathetic and believable, but we never truly get a sense of Edee or her desires outside the bounds of her loss. Rated: 2/5 Jun 6, 2021 Full Review Marya E. Gates Moviefone Wright and Bichir’s compelling performances, as well as stunning cinematography by Bobby Bukowski, make Land a worthwhile journey from the numbness of loss to the joys of finding peace within. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Nadine Whitney Mr. Movie's Film Blog For director/star Wright this film could have been something significant if she didn’t place herself second to the land she was filming on. Cynthi M I enjoyed beautiful views of nature and wildlife and realized what a challenge it would be living alone in the wilderness would be. Some parts were difficult to watch. It made me empathize the weight on a person's mind while dealing with a mental health crisis. What a blessing a stranger's kindness can be! Script is not based on a book or true life story. As opposed to the movie" Into the Wild", which I also found frustrating to watch the main character's stupidity as they go into rugged terrain totally unprepared.
If the positive reviews make up 60% or more, the film is considered "fresh". If the positive reviews are less than 60%, the film is considered "rotten". An average score on a 0 to 10 scale is also calculated.

Robin Wright directs and stars. It is roughly a two year slice of her life not long after she lost both her husband and her young son in a crime. Other than that we don't learn any backstory.
Even with that experience, Land, which was filmed over the course of 29 days atop Moose Mountain in Alberta, Canada, posed extreme challenges. "We lived the movie that we shot," Wright says. She slept in a trailer on the top of the mountain, near Edee's cabin.

NC-17. The NC-17 rating is the highest rating (even higher than the R-rating) that a film can be given, and it means the movie is for adults only (ages 18 and older) and no one age 17 or younger will be admitted.
