How to calculate the depth of a lot? ›

The depth is normally the distance from the front boundary of the lot to the rear boundary of the lot.

Lot width is measured from the interior side lot line to the side street lot line along the front building line, minus the difference between the street yard setback and the side yard setback (see Figure 14.1. 108.02, Measurement of Lot Width; Corner Lots).

You can also measure the property yourself and calculate out the size by multiplying the length by the width, the total is the square footage of the property.

Depth Measurement. The depth micrometer is an accurate and reliable tool to use for depth measurement (Figure 1). The depths of holes, slots, shoulders, and projections can be measured accurately to within 0.001 of an inch. When using a depth micrometer, two points must be kept in mind.

Calculating area of land with 4 unequal sides would require you to first, sketch out the land using the dimensions provided. Then make an appropriate diagonal. Next, determine the areas of the two triangles that the diagonal creates. The size of the land is calculated by adding the areas of the two triangles.

In math, the distance between the nearest end and the farthest end of an object is its depth. For example, you can measure the depth of a box. When you find the distance between one end of the box and another end of the box, you measure the box's depth.

Difference between Width and Depth

In two-dimensional shapes, width is the shortest side and tells us how broad an object is. Some objects around you, which have width, are book, wall, door, black board, desk, etc. Depth is used to tell us how deep a three-dimensional object is.

Height × width × length= volume

If the height, width and length are measured in cm, the answer will be cm³.

Average Depth: Determining average depth is most often calculated by dividing the maximum depth by two. This works if the pond bottom has a relatively uniform bottom slope. FORMULA: Maximum Depth (ft.) ÷ 2 = Average Depth (ft.)

Mean depth is calculated by assigning a depth value to each space according to how many spaces it is away from the original space, summing these values and dividing by the number of spaces in the system less one (the original space).

Convert the area of the lot from acres to square feet: 9/10 acres imes 43,560 square feet/acre = 39,204 square feet. Divide the converted area by the width of the lot's front: 39,204 square feet \/ 150 feet = 261.36 feet. This result is the depth of the lot.
