How to calculate the amount of turf needed? ›

All you really need to do is work out the area you want to cover with turf, if its a square or rectangualr shape then just measure the width and length in meters and multiply the two figures together, then add a little extra for cuts and wastage (we recommend 5% extra).

It is recommended that you order 5% more turf than the area of your yard because this will allow for any irregular shapes or for cuttings.

To calculate the area of your rectangular or square artificial turf installation, multiply the length of the turf strip you need by the width. For example, if your lawn is 25 feet wide and 15 feet long, you'll need 375 square feet of turf (25 x 15 = 375).

Whatever the shape and size of your lawn, we strongly recommend that you purchase 5% more turf than you need to allow for cutting & shaping.

The proper amount of turf infill is completely dependent on your application. The formula is typically to divide the pile height of the turf by two, multiply it by the square footage of the area, and then multiply by 0.0833333 to get the number of required cubic feet.

To figure out how much sod you need, measure out the area; get the length in feet and the depth in feet. Multiply these 2 numbers together to get total square feet. Divide this number by 9 to get square yards. Sod is sold by piece and by square yard (which is 2.25 pieces).

Formula: Measure the length of the longest axis across the area. Every 10 feet along the length, measure the width of the area at right angles to the length line. Total all widths and multiply by 10. Example: A= (40' + 30' + 50') x 10 = 1,200 sq.

The average range for residential lawn synthetic turf face weight is about 40 to 90 ounces per square yard. For that range, a pile height of 1 to 3 inches creates a good general-purpose grass that can be used for fairways or just all-around turf.

To find the amount of material needed for your yard, multiply the square footage of your yard by 0.77, then divide by 1,000. Example: If your yard is 800 square feet, the calculations would be as follows: 800 x 0.77 = 616. 616 ÷ 1,000 = 0.62 cubic yards of topdressing material needed.

It is possible to lay new turf on top of old grass; however, you're not going to achieve the best possible result. Therefore, we highly recommend you never lay fresh turf on top of old turf; otherwise, your lawn's condition will deteriorate over time as the old grass dies.

Multiply the base by 0.5, then by the height. For example, if the base is 10 metres and the height is 8 metres, you would need to do the following equation to determine how much turf is required: 10 x 0.5 x 8 = 40 metres².

One pound of nitrogen or mixed fertilizer is recommended per 1,000 square feet of lawn and your particular fertilizer contains 20% nitrogen. Refer to Table 1 to convert this to five pounds of fertilizer that should be applied per 1,000 square feet.

To calculate how much topsoil you need, simply measure the dimensions of the area you wish to cover and multiply this by the depth required. Measuring in metres is simplest, as this will give you the volume of topsoil you need in cubic metres.
