The legislation codified the U.S. Government's commitment to the productivity, incomes and livelihoods of small-scale producers, particularly women, by working across agricultural value chains and expanding farmers' access to local and international markets.

By expanding the reach and impact of the Market Access Program (MAP) and Foreign Market Development (FMD) program, the 2024 farm bill will mitigate global food insecurity while providing U.S. producers new markets, improving local economies, and lessening the damage of this Administration's ineffective trade agenda.

Led by USAID, the initiative brings partners together to address the root causes of hunger and poverty by boosting agriculture-led growth, resilience and nutrition in countries with great need and opportunity for improvement.

To establish the Foundation for International Food Security to leverage private sector investments in order to improve agricultural productivity, build food systems to mitigate food shock, help alleviate poverty, reduce malnutrition, and drive economic growth in developing countries, and for other purposes.

USDA supports global food security through in-country capacity building, basic and applied research, and support for improved market information, statistics and analysis.

The U.S. Government's Global Food Security Strategy is an integrated whole-of-government approach that aims to end global hunger, poverty, and malnutrition through the Feed the Future initiative.
