Measure the plant height in centimeters (cm) from the base of the stem (at the soil surface) to the top of the canopy, or the highest part of the plant (for many plants, this will be the tip of the apical bud). You may lift and support the stem if needed, but you cannot lift or extend leaves. With the stem supported, measure to the highest part of the plant.
