Read Why This Tour Sells Out!

The entire Esh Family treats you as friends right from the start and they are excellent hosts--perhaps especially the children. To quote Mr. Esh, "Leave your shy bones on the bus."

Perhaps the best review I can offer is this. When we return to the area, we would do this again--it's not a "once and done" experience. I definitely want to know how Hanna does in sixth grade next year. Maybe she'll help me some more with math. When I mentioned she has two years to go, she gently corrected that it's three: 6, 7, 8. We had a good laugh over my mistake, I told her perhaps I should go to HER school.

The picnic is entertaining, certainly but for us it was more of an opportunity to learn and share. As Mrs. Esh so wisely said during one of our conversations... "We are just people--human beings just like you." For a few hours on the farm, I did not feel like a tourist or "an English among the Amish." We teased one of the children that we weren't not going to leave but would be living with them forever and ever. The big smile we got in return was not forced. I suspect it's not the first time she heard it.

This is an experience. Have positive and realistic expectations, leave your shy bones on the bus and learn--not just about the Amish but about being a human being among other human beings. We are more alike than different and we can and should learn from and enjoy each other.

The tour was excellent. We enjoyed everything about it. We especially loved having our sunset dinner at the Esh house. The food was really great loved the bbq chicken with all the sides and the lemonade was delicious too. Such a lovely family. Enjoyed making crafts and the children were great helpers. They helped with the dinner and crafts. Overall we loved our tour. Will either do this tour again or another tour. Hoping to do the cookies tour at Christmas time.
