EVMSGeneral Otolaryngology provides care for diseases of the head and neck, including disorders of the ear, nose, sinuses, neck and throat. General Otolaryngologists diagnose, treat and manage specialty-specific disorders as well as many primary problems in both children and adults. Although Otolaryngology is a surgical specialty, many patients who see a General Otolaryngologist do not need surgeryand their conditions can be managed with medications or other therapies.
Wespecialize in the medical and surgical treatment of a wide variety of head and neck disorders including allergies, sinus disease, deviated nasal septum and nasal obstruction, thyroid and parathyroid disease, neck masses, disorders of the salivary glands, obstructive sleep apnea and snoring, diseases of the larynx (voice box), oral cavity, ears and other structures in the neck and face.
Some of the more common procedures and treatments performed by our General Otolaryngologists include:
- Sinus surgery to treat sinus disease, including endoscopic techniques and computer image guidance
- Nasal septoplasty, turbinate reduction and rhinoplasty to improve nasal breathing
- Allergy testing and treatment for inhalant allergies (including shots or sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT)
- Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy
- Thyroidectomy
- Parathyroidectomy
- Removal of neck masses
- Parotidectomy and salivary gland surgery, including endoscopic salivary techniques
- Laryngeal (voice box) surgery
- Pressure equalization tube placement (ear tubes)
- Cerumen (ear wax)
- Evaluation and treatment of hearing loss, tinnitus, and vertigo
- Skin lesion removal
- Surgery to treat snoring and sleep apnea
- Surgeries to diagnose and treat cancers of the nose, sinuses, throat and neck
- Evaluation and management of epistaxis (nosebleeds)
