Garbage and recycling collection in San José occurs on all holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. If your usual garbage and recycling collection or street sweeping falls on or after these holidays, your service will be one day later during the week.

These Holidays are New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If one of these major Holidays falls on a weekday prior to or on the regular trash/recycling/bulk item collection day (Thursday), collection will be delayed by one day (Friday).
