I have what I would consider a small yard – in fact, I don’t use the front at all…. yet – everything I do is Backyard Small Garden Ideas, so if there is one thing I know well, it’s very small garden ideas.

But with some planning (and re-planning my garden plan) and mistakes, my small garden area is shaping up to be something I am really enjoying.

I love admiring all the large and smaller plants and the setups I have right now, thanks in part to my family, who has built me additions and helped me make quite an oasis in my small backyard garden space.

Currently, I have a container garden, a backyard vegetable garden, and a pollinator garden, all working together in my small backyard to make things grow better.

My kids came up with the idea to help in my small veggie garden and built me what the grands named a “Shade Shack” for Mother’s Day in the middle of it all so I can sit in the shade in the hot weather on a Texas summer evening and admire it all.

My DD got me a “porch swing” for my own backyard as well, and my DIL built out one area of my small gardens, adding mulch and a brick border which I love, so I am thrilled with all of the improvements they have done to my backyard.

Hearing me describe it makes it sound like a very large area – but it’s not, it’s definitely a small backyard, and the ideas have been implemented in such a way that it works.

There is one drainage hole on four sides of each planter box, and each box comes with 2 water plugs with covers that allow you to manually let excessive water run off and 2 water plugs to prevent loss of water for better plant root growth.
