Is 3M 2080 discontinued? ›

Please be advised that effective September 10, 2021, 3M has ceased production of the following slow-moving 1080 and 2080 cast wrap film colours. Material will be manufactured to fulfil orders that were in place as of September 10th, 2021, however new orders for these colours will not be accepted.

2080 offers an improved warranty versus 3M's previous generation film, Series 1080, with up to eight years on vertical applications and up to three years on horizontal applications. You can also choose to remove 3M 2080 at any time.

3M™ Wrap Film Series 2080 (“2080”) is more conformable than 3M™ Wrap Film Series 1080 (“1080”), enabling easier installation with less heat. All 2080 gloss films have a conformable protective film layer on their surface. - The protective film layer reduces surface impressions in a finished goods roll.

The expected performance life—that is, the length of time the 3M wrap should look good and stay adhered—is up to 7 years if properly maintained.

Can I wet-apply 2080? No. 3M does not recommend or warrant using a wetting solution on the vehicle surface when applying any film with air release channels.

The most significant benefit of car wrapping is that it protects your paint. A 3M paint protection film is designed to preserve your vehicle from scratches, chips, and dings. If you ever plan to sell your car, paint protection film will allow you to sell the car in pristine condition.

2080 Super can be said to be better as there is about a 10% lead over old 1080Ti. If you own 1080Ti, not much point in upgrading. Better wait for next-gen GPUs to get even better ray tracing. Current RTX cards the first-gen, so it's not as optimized as it can be.

As an industry first, all 3M™ Wrap Film Series 2080 gloss films have a conformable Protective Film Layer over the top film surface. The benefits for installers include: Greatly reduces the surface impressions* in a finished goods roll.

The end result is between three and six millimeters thick. It works best on flat parts of the car and is an ideal way to add accents.

While some can definitely provide a quality, lasting wrap, others cannot maintain a high-quality level resulting in wraps that are less durable and which fade over time. To make matters worse, a low-quality wrap may even damage your paint when removed, causing additional headache.

Do not use any polishing or wax products on matte or textured films. Use if there is wax or wax residue on the surface, remove with an all-purpose cleaner. Table A shows some available products to help restore your vehicle wrap.
